The knots symbol graphics can't be found?

I double checked with the how-to-edit-pages page on decktet.wikidot.com and the image for knots can't be found. It just shows as a "broken image icon", but the other suit images can to found!?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I tried that with the Spanish page for Bharg. Although the breadcrumbs navigation works to connect the translation back to the English version, there isn't any visible connection leading from the English version to the translation.

Adding [[module PageTree]] would make the link, but without any explanation. Often the non-English pages have the same title.

The page http://decktet.wikidot.com/de-all-games exists and is linked from the German welcome page via the text "die ganzen Spiele". I can't look at the source but the page seems to update automatically with new de-game entries.

Any article can be delared as a parent of another without breaking naming conventions. See http://community.wikidot.com/forum/t-287069/ It is "heavy work" when done as an afterthought but still doable with the low number of translated pages here.

There's a section of the sidebar for "Languages besides English". The first of those was set up by Jorge, who started the wiki. The Spanish link (which he set up) is a list of all the pages that are in Spanish. Other languages have been added as contributors have come along.

The French link is to a welcome page that lists all the games with French rules at the bottom.

The German one links to a welcome page that doesn't have such a list. Following the pattern for the French welcome page, something like:

[[module ListPages category="de-game" order="titleAsc" ]] * %%linked_title%% [[/module]]

I'm not opposed to something more thorough, but I don't really know much about it. Would changing it so that translated games were child pages require moving all of the game pages?

I have looked around the docs and there doesn't seem an obvious way to list possible translation in an automated way. Translations are so few and far between that some signal should be hoisted where they actually exist. I would not edit a URL manually to see if a translation exists.

One possibility would be to use the site structure features of Wikidot. Translations could be played as children of the original articles. A game page skeleton would include the names of its children.

I don't know if there is an automated tool for it, but you can check by editing URLs directly. Foreign-language pages have the same name with an added prefix:

German pages are de-WHATEVER
French pages are fr-WHATEVER
Spanish pages are es-WHATEVER

For example, Bharg is at game:bharg, and the Spanish translation is at es-game:bharg

You're right, though, that it doesn't make sense to have one tag for both bidding in an auction and bidding for tricks. So I've removed "bidding" from the auction games and changed it to "trick-bidding" for the trick-taking games. Not perfect, but better maybe.

Ah, correct indeed. Bidding is also the phase in many card games to determine the trump suit (though this is also sometimes referred to as "auction"). The bidding in Hearts, by contrast, is rather a sort of betting in that it tries to predict the future for fun and profit, or loss, but bidding stuck as a term. So yeah, can't really get rid of the term.

There is something to be said for the collection. As a small twist, though, not all of the "bidding" games are auction games. People have also used "bidding" as a tag for trick-taking games in which players bid a number of tricks.

I think the auction and bidding key words can be merged (and I would suggest auction as the key word as bidding and bedding are almost homophones in some dialects).

For decades, the Dungeons & Dragons game has a described a powerful magic item called the deck of many things, which is a tarot-like deck that causes weird things to happen when you draw cards from it. I became obsessed with creating a version of this magic item based on the Decktet called the pandemonium deck.

I have a web page describing the pandemonium deck, but, apparently, I can't put a link to it in this post, since I'm a new user to the forum. (Should be the first hit if you Google "divnull pandemonium deck", if you care).

Though it is for a role-playing game, the pandemonium deck is not really a game on its own, so doesn't seem to fit in the "games" section of the wiki. I'm not really sure where (or if) to add it. Opinions?

So far, I have translated some of the main pages (welcome, structure) into German. Unfortunately there was no obvious link to that translation within the structure of the wiki. While the menu item "List of…" has a link to pages in other languages, the way maka set it up, it specifically points to lists of games, which I find useful, and I didn't want to clutter it with additional links to the translation of the welcome page.

Consequently, I have added a category "Other Languages" to nav:side. (I hope this is no breach of etiquette to make changes to such a prominent parts of a wiki…) I added links to maka's list of the his translations of the games, and one to my German welcome page. I listed the languages in alphabetical order (like the cross-language links in Wikipedia).

I hope this is an acceptable solution.

Ah. The resulting page looks fine - the included image displays inline even thought the [include] was on its own line. That's annoying, because it is more natural than the path to the image itself.

I tried that a while ago, but the include tag only works if it's on its own line. You can't inline it in text.
